With some 7 500 kilometres of Atlantic coastline, Brazil offers yachtsmen a great variety of islands, reefs, and bays. The favourite cruising ground is the Costa Verde (Green Coast), between Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, with its numerous anchorages and sandy beaches set against the tropical greenery. Boat ownership, of especially motorboats, has expanded immensely in recent years, although the expansion is not reflected in the number of marina berths available. Consequently, both dry-land boat storage (for vessels under 10 metres) and swing moorings are abundant.
SF Marina Brazil is headed by the Grupo Náutica. The company organises the two largest nautical events in Latin America – the São Paulo Boat Show and the Rio Boat Show. Grupo Náutica also represents the leading French manufacturer of light, aluminium floating docks and gangways, Metalu. Metalu Brasil has over two thousand metres of docks installed in the country, including the Rio 2016 Olympic rowing and canoeing centre at Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas.
