THE GREEK RIVIERA

Porto Heli is a beautiful, small seaside town on the north-eastern coast of the Peloponnese, some 80 nautical miles southwest of Athens. It is a favourite summer destination for the rich and famous, with luxury villas and upscale resorts – like the AmanZoe, the most expensive hotel in Greece – scattered amongst rolling low hills, cypresses, olive trees, and vineyards. Porto Heli offers a natural harbour that is well protected from strong winds and waves and thus popular amongst both Greek and foreign yachts. In addition, the coastline around Porto Heli is rich in small, protected coves, fine beaches, and crystal-clear turquoise waters. Across the bay are the ruins of the ancient city of Halieis.

Whereas the natural bay of Porto Heli is one of the most secure all-weather anchorages in the Aegean, historically it has only offered yachts the opportunity of laid moorings, anchor off or anchor and moor stern-to the quay. In a move to attract more yachts, a new state-of-the-art floating marina was installed in 2018. The marina can accommodate up to 149 yachts with a maximum length of 40 metres and a draft of up to 4.65 metres. The 300-metre floating breakwater and pontoons were designed by SF Marina and manufactured locally in Porto Lagos by TOMI S.A., part of Ellaktor Group. The pontoons and breakwater are secured using heavy-duty chains and precast concrete anchors. Utilities, such as power, water, pump-out and communications, are routed through internal ducts.
