Italy offers some of the most beautiful coastlines and best sailing grounds in the world. The peninsula offers a total of approximately 170,000 berths – divided between 90 top quality marinas and 450 multi-purpose ports, where a part of the port is used exclusively for recreational boats. SF Marina’s first installation in the country, a floating concrete breakwater to protect 160 berths in the Marina del Nettuno in Messina on Sicily, was built in 1998. Other highlights include a floating breakwater-cum-helipad for Porto Lotti Marina, in the Gulf of La Spezia – the heartland of Italian shipbuilding.
