The United Arab Emirates comprises of 7 Emirates with Abu Dhabi and Dubai being the most well-known. The UAE has an extensive coastline with the Arabian Gulf to the West and Gulf of Oman to the East. Maritime life has always played an important role in the Emirates, whether it be shipbuilding and trading, fishing or pearl diving. Whilst wooden dhows are still used for some trading and even traditional sail racing, the Emirates’ maritime infrastructure has developed at pace with modern commercial and leisure marine facilities now dotted throughout the country.

SF Marina has been producing and installing concrete pontoons in the Middle East for over 30 years with the first UAE installation taking place in 2004. SF Marina UAE covers the seven emirates as well as other countries within the region. Projects range from the supply of individual pontoons to the design and build of complete turn-key commercial marinas. The sizes of pontoons supplied in the region to date range from a small 6m x 4m pontoon at a private villa to a single pontoon 12m x 15m with a water taxi station building on top of it. Project highlights include over 400 berths at Marsa Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi installed in two phases between 2008 and 2016, a full service leisure marina at Hidd Al Saadiyat, Abu Dhabi complete with a floating breakwater and full utilities including power, water, sewage pump out and a floating fuel station, and Water Taxi and Ferry stations at 21 locations throughout the Dubai Creek and Canal.
